DESIGN PROCESS

Sublimation Dye Printing

Sublimation is a process in which ink is set into synthetic fabric using very high heat. Our sublimation technique is done on ready-made blank pattern pieces. Graphics are printed onto sublimation paper using specialty inks. Fabric is placed between two sheets of sublimation paper and goes through a heat press. The heat then transforms the sublimation ink into a gas that gets absorbed into the fabric. This ensures a consistent and vibrant all-over print that covers the whole product.

Quality Control Process

All of our orders go through our 3-step quality check before we ship them out.

01

Design Review - Our in-house graphic artists check every graphic file for quality before fulfilment. The artists evaluate if the image needs any adjustments before going to print.

02

Pantone and Design Test - We run a final quality check after the tester has been printed on to the selected fabric to ensure there are no colour or design flaws.

03

Finishing Review - Fulfillment specialists check for production and design quality prior to any order being fulfilled.

Design Standards

We provide the best print quality in the industry—our colors are vivid and match the original print file as closely as possible

  • Resolution 1920 x 1080 is the measure of pixels we strive for.

  • DPI (dots per inch) 120 –300 DPI maintains a sufficient amount of dots to produce high–quality printing.

  • Print size For print files, we ask that they're at least 150dpi and at actual size.

Fabric & Materials

ATAC sources its fabric from North American mills who maintain sustainable and environmentally conscious practices. Sublimation is ideal for bright prints and detailed images and performs best when printed on white fabric to allow the dye to transfer into the fibers. While it is possible to print over different coloured materials with sublimation, it’s important to keep in mind that the results will have slightly different colour results on different fabrics.

Design Placement & 3D Mock-ups

ATAC provides both a flat design proof and a 3D product mock-up to allow our clients to visualize how their printed products will look when finished. Our 3D models are made in one standard size, typically large for clothing products.

Our downloadable design templates and design proofs, include Text Safe and Design Safe Boundaries which indicate appropriate guides for where text and artwork will not be cut off when adjusted and scaled for each size accordingly.

A couple of things to keep in mind

  • Monitor Colours No two monitors are the same! The colours you see on your monitor can vary quite a bit from what will actually print on the fabric. We follow a thorough colour quality process that ensures the pantone colours selected match the CMYK colours that our printers print.

  • Low Resolution Artwork If your artwork is not prepared to our suggested dpi, the pixels are blown out or blurry, our graphic designs will make minor adjustments to the files submitted to ensure you clarity and quality print colours. By following our design guidelines, you’ll be able to ensure your artwork files fall within our print quality standards.
